7. Finishing
Sikkens-Four-layer surface finish system; in-depth impregnation, colour impregnation, high pressure coating with 150 µm glazing. This advanced system provides a barrier against severe weather conditions whilst allowing the timber to breathe actively. Temperature and humidity changes are compensated for by the high elasticity of the paint coating resulting in a highly durable surface finish. If you require a different paint finish inside/outside we can provide this.

8. Repainting
Typically you will not have to repaint this product for 12-15 years providing the sikkens
special cleaner and sikkens
maintenance protector are used (this is provided with your window order). Whether the windows are painted or stained, the maintenance kit brings new shine to your windows and protects against the effects of weathering at the same time.
With regular use (twice a year, each spring and autumn) you can extend maintenance times and the life of the finish.
When repainting you should purchase Sikkens paint, lightly sand the window frames externally and re-apply one or two coats.
Apply Sikkens Special Cleaner (neat or thinned slightly with water) to a cloth and wipe the whole timber surface.
Hint: The Special Cleaner is not suitable for use on alkaline, waxed, oiled or porous surfaces. A test application on an inconspicuous area is recommended.
Afterwards apply the Sikkens Maintenance Protector evenly to the dry surface using the enclosed sponge. The Maintenance Milk dries in 10–20 minutes. The working temperature should be between 15 and 25 °C.
Hint: Do not apply in direct sunlight or to hot surfaces.
